Tara Air aircraft goes missing in Nepal

Pokhara—A Tara Air twin otter aircraft 9NAET with 19 passengers on board and 3 crew members has gone missing in the bordering area of Nepal’s Mustang and Myagdi district since this morning.

According to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the aircraft took off at 9.55 am NPT from Pokhara Airport and lost the contact at 10.7 am with Jomsom Airport where the aircraft supposed to land at 10.15am. 13 Nepali, 4 Indians and 2 Germans are among the passengers.

Issuing a press release, Tara Air informed that the Nepali Army and private choppers have been deployed in search and rescue operation but the adverse weather with rain and fogs is hindering the operation. The search operation has been focused on Lete, Tukuche, Ghasa and Sikha area of high mountains. The aircraft was flown by experienced Nepali pilot Prabhakar Ghimire.
