Pokhara—The Supreme Court of Nepal reinstated the House of Representatives and issued a mandamus order to appoint Nepali Congress Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba as a new Prime Minister of Nepal by 5 pm tomorrow.
A constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana also ordered to call a house session within a week. The court also made clear that the no political whip is applicable in the context of article 76-5 of Nepal’s Constitution.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari with PM KP Sharma Oli recommendation had dissolved the HoR on May 22 for the 2nd time. Then, rival faction had file a writ petition demanding the restoration of HoR and appointment of Deuba as PM.
