World Tourism Day marked in Pokhara, Boat-ride in Phewa

Pokhara–With a motto of constructing a foot trail around Phewa in Raniban Forest, the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara has organized a boat ride program including interaction in Pokhara during a 41st World Tourism Day on Sunday.

On this occasion, invitees took boat rides from Damside to Raniban Forest and participated in an interaction. Addressing the interaction, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung stressed on the need of Phewa Lake conservation. He also expressed his commitment that his government would support to construction the foot trail in Raniban.

Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment minister Bikash Lamsal said that entrepreneurs should create an environment to visit Pokhara and this province to domestic and foreign tourists. At the same time, Gandaki Province assembly member Rajib Pahari said that the development of foot trail will be carried out by consulting the local people. He also vowed 30 percent funds from the local side to construct the proposed foot trail.

Likewise, Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC said that his office is for the implementation of Phewa demarcation according to the verdict of the Supreme Court. Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Chirinjibi Pokhrel said there was no alternative of reopening the tourism services, maintaining the physical distance and awareness to save ourselves from Covid-19.

TAAN WRA Chairman Hari Bhujel made clear that the length of stay of tourists would be extended if the foot trail is developed around the Phewa Lake. He also said that his organization wished to convert the traditional jungle trails into tourist trails. Earlier, TAAN WRA vice-chairman Sushil Raj Paudel welcomed all the invitees before taking the boat ride in Damside.
