National Industrial Trade Fair kicks off in Pokhara

Pokhara—The Samridhhi Steels National Industrial Trade Fair has kicked off in Pokhara on Friday in Pokhara. Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikash Lamsal inaugurated the fair amid of gloomy and rainy weather.

Woman groups, businessmen, industrialists and tourism entrepreneurs and cultural groups were at present during the opening ceremony held at organizer Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) secretariat at Gairapatan. According to PCCI Chairman Damu Adhikari, all the events and programs will be held at Pokhara Exhibition Center in Naya Bazaar following the fair inauguration.

At the same time, PCCI general secretary Arjun Pokhrel informed that the fair contains the stalls related to business, industry and handicrafts. Similarly, grocery items, garments, auto, flowers and utensils are the parts of the fair co-organized by FNCCI and FNCCI Gandaki.

The scheduled morning rally was postponed for January 6 because of the bad weather of opening day, informed deputy general secretary Chinu Gurung. As per the information, it costs Rs 60 and 40 for a commoner and student to buy an entry ticket in the fair that ends on January 13. The saving of fair will be invested for the infrastructure development of exhibition center and for social welfare. The fair contains a total of 270 stalls. Music, live concerts, duet songs and children park are some of the attractions of the fair.   

Addressing the opening ceremony, minister Lamsal stressed on the use of domestic items instead of imported items for the economic development of the nation. According to him, domestic production and employment could pave the way to prosperity of the nation.

At the same time, Gandaki Province assembly member Bindu Kumar Thapa, FNCCI festival committee chairman Dilsundar Shrestha, FNCCI Gandaki Province chairman Sanjiv Bahadur Koirala, PCCI senior vice chairman Narayan Koirala, Pokhara Tourism Council chairman Chirinjibi Pokhrel including others put their remarks during the fair sponsored by Samridhhi Steels.
