Journalists make human chain against media bill

Pokhara—Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Gandaki Province chapter held a protest program against media council bill registered in federal house, in Pokhara on Saturday. Journalists from Pokhara marched in the street of Pokhara making a hand-chain to protest the bill. It was a 2nd stage of protest program announced by FNJ central committee on May 19, 2019.

Journalists marched from Chipledhunga to Mahendrapul bazaar and took part in a gathering that was addressed by FNJ Gandaki chairman Tribhuban Poudel, senior journalists Narayan Karki, journalists Nabaraj Subedi, Rabindra Bastola and others. FNJ and its branches had organized interactions with the political leaders, civil society leaders and members of parliament as part of their protest program.

FNJ had announced 2nd stage of protest programs citing the government seemed reluctant to address the demands of journalists to amend the media council bill. FNJ general secretary Ramesh Bista signed release states that the nationwide protest program would be held in the day when the bill is tabled in the parliament.
