FNJ convention begins in Pokhara

Pokhara—The 25th general convention of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has kicked off in touristy town Pokhara on Thursday. House of Representative speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the convention amid a formal ceremony held in Pokhara City Hall.

The two-day long convention will try to amend the FNJ statute, guaranteeing the directly elected election system in every level of elections of this organization. FNJ Kaski chairman and coordination committee head Dipendra Shrestha welcomed all the journalists and invitees in the program. According to FNJ chairman Govinda Acharya, all the elections of every FNJ chapter and branch will be held at once following the statute amendment. The statute of FNJ will be more inclusive and will follow the spirit of federalism following its amendment.

The subject of minimum wage to journalists, press freedom, freedom of expression are also some of the issues which will be discussed during the close session of the convention. FNJ has a total of 13,050 general members and some 1,000 representatives from across the Nepal are taking part in the convention. Gandaki Province Government has also formally inaugurated the Internal Tourism Year 2019 sharing the stage of FNJ convention.
