APF thrash host Sahara in sudden death

Pokhara—Armed Police Force’s APF Club thrashed host Sahara Club in sudden death in the 17th Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament started here in Pokhara Stadium on Thursday. APF Biki Lama scored decisive goal in sudden death after the 4-4 draw in penalty shootout and 1-1 draw in regular and the added 30 minute extra time.

APF’s goalkeeper Roman Rasaili saved the shot of Anjan Devkota of Sahara in sudden death. Earlier, Saheed, Padam Bhattarai, Anil Gurung and Bishnu Gurung scored for Sahara in penalty shootout but skipper Sushil Lama’s shot remained fail to score. Similalry, Sudeep Sikhrakar, Santosh Katuwal, Buddhiman Rai and Aasish Lama scored for APF but Roman Rasaili failed to score in penalty shootout. Earlier, Sahara’s Binod Gurung scored in 17th minute and the scored was leveled by Aasish Lama of APF in 18th minute.

A total of 10 teams are taking part in the tournament. The winner team will bag Rs 801000 and runner up Rs 401000. Both the teams will get trophy and medals. Best player will get a Aprila Scooter. Himalayan Sherpa will take on Dharan Football Club in Friday’s match. Nepali Football team goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong was felicitated for his contribution in football sector, during the opening match. Sahara Club Pokhara handed over Rs 2 lakh to Kaski District Football Association, saying latter repaired the Pokhara Football Ground.
