PTC submits 8-point memorandum to minister Adhikari

Pokhara–Pokhara Tourism Council (PTC) has submitted a 8-point memorandum to Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rabindra Adhikari on Sunday. PTC Chairman Chirinjibi Pokhrel handed over that memorandum to minister Adhikari urging to take initiation in the implementation of allocated budged for Phewa Lake conservation.

PTC also demanded to nullify the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) that was jointly carried out by tourism ministry, Nepal Tourism Board and Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN). At the same time, the memorandum also includes the demand of multiply entry permit system to Annapurna Conservation Area Project.

Similarly, the air connectivity between Pokhara and Simara,  new tourist bus park under the management of tourism related institution, advancement of roads connecting to Pokhara from various directions, establishment of tourist information desks in different places including bordering points of Nepal and the opening up Pokhara including other happening destinations round the clock are also confined in the memorandum.

Addressing the interaction, minister Adhikari disclosed that the tourism department is going to publish a bidding notice  for the construction of tourist bus park in Pokhara. He further informed that such bidding would be publish within two-three days and Rs 60 million budget has been allocated for such bus  park construction.

Minister Adhikari also vowed that the upcoming tourism act would be entrepreneur-friendly but he cautioned entrepreneurs from Pokhara that tourists may skip the Pokhara unless the entrepreneurs upgrade the quality of tourism of Pokhara. He also projected the Karnali as a major tourism destination of Nepal of two decade later.

Saying that Pokhara needs at least an international seminar hall, minister Adhikari further added the Livestock Breeding center aka Bhedifarm in Pokhara might be one of the feasible venues for that purpose. He also picked the land of Pokhara Exhibition Center at Nayabazaar as an option for the seminar hall.

NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi, PTC former chairmen Ashok Palikhe, Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai, Tikaram Sapkota, TAAN WRA Pokhara Chairman Hari Bhujel, tourism entrepreneurs Santosh Pokhrel, Bobar Jang Gurung, Krishna Bhandari and Indra Bhandari also put their views during the interaction.
