Pokhara—Police have claimed that they arrested an alleged murderer of Shriya BK, 10, who was found dead nearby her maternal uncle’s home in Pokhara on Tuesday. District Police Office Kaski Chief Superintendent of Police Om Bahadur Rana confirmed the information that she was murdered after being raped.
According to SP Rana, Mr Kusum Paudel, 27, who was arrested by police has accepted that he murdered BK of Pokhara Metropolitan City- 22, Kodi, Pumdibhumdi. Police had arrested six suspects but Paudel who is the neighbor of BK accepted the allegation before the police. BK went out of her house to buy biscuits at around 5.30 pm on last Monday but she didn’t return home then.
Family members including villagers carried out a search operation till mid night but her whereabouts had remained unknown but she found dead in the next morning at around 8 am on last Tuesday nearby her maternal uncle’s home. Her body’s half down part was naked and numbers of wounds could be seen in her forehead including other parts of the body. She was believed to be murdered with the hits of stone. She had been living sometime in her home and sometime in maternal uncle’s home as her father had second marriage.
A team of police including sniffer dog lead by Ward Police Office Baidam chief DSP Nabin Karki had reached incident site following the information about dead body and began an investigation. His team arrested some suspects in the mid night. BK’s postmortem report also showed that she was murdered following the raping. According to police information, Paudel who had taken alcohol including other drugs was intoxicated.
He first called BK and gave Rs 10 to her before holding her tight. As she cried, Paudel choked her neck and threw her to bush. She became unconscious but Paudel raped her and crushed her head with stones to kill her, thinking that nobody knows the secret. His house is some 20 meter away from her house. DPO Kaski spokesperson DSP Rabindraman Gurung said that the police became success to arrest culprit within 24 hour of the incident. She was a 3 grader student of Lila Basic School.
