Tehran — All 66 persons including six crew member on board have been killed as a plane heading from Tehran to Yasuj, a city in and the capital of southwestern province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, crashed into the mountain on Sunday morning, tehrantimes.com reports.
Operated by Asseman Airlines, the ATR aircraft was first vanished from radar and reportedly crashed into the Dena mountain range in the Semirom region, Isfahan province, due to the bad weather conditions, authorities said. Emergency help and medical services were not reached due to fog and mountainous area.
Pir-Hossein Koulivand, the head of Iran’s Emergency Medical Services, said the plane had crashed in Semirom in the central Isfahan province, only 185.2 kilometers (113 miles) before reaching Yasuj, iran-daily.com reports. The report identified the plane operated by Aseman Airlines as an ATR-72.
