Bomb blasted on CPN-UML leader Sherdhan Rai travelling vehicle in Bhojpur

Pokhara–Netra Bikram Chand Biplav led CPN Maoist activists allegedly blasted a bomb targeting a vehicle which was being traveled left alliance candidate Sherdhan Rai in Bhojpur today. In spite of explosion, leader Rai is said to be safe however the vehicle he traveled was damaged by the bomb, in Tamkemaiu Rural Municipality- 7.

Rai is the left alliance provincial candidate from CPN-UML in Bhojpur. Witnesses informed that a group of 14 to 15 people had arrived to attack the Rai travelling vehicle- Land rover. Assistant Sub Inspector Dilli Devkota’s team that was deployed for the security of Rai’s team opened fire of 21 rounds against Biplav Maoists activists. ASI Rai is said to be injured during the incident and the site is now under police control.

Rai who is also a former information minister of Nepal, was on his way to Gogane where he was scheduled to address a electoral mass meeting but the incident happened near Pikhuwa Kholoa in the bordering area of Kot and Bhojpur. After attack, Rai said that the bombing in his vehicle had the motive of killing him. Few days ago, CPN-MC leaders Janardan Sharma in Rukum and Barsha Man Pun in Rolpa were attacked by bombs in Nepal.
