Army-men dominate National Triathlon

Pokhara—Basanta Tharu from Nepal Army lifted the title of the NTA 7th National Triathlon Championship in Pokhara on Saturday. He completed stipulated distance in 1 hour 6 minutes and 19 seconds while Dipesh Chaudhari of NA who turned 2nd took 1 hour 7 minutes and 50 second to complete same distance. Likewise, Rudra Katuwal from NA became 3rd completing the fixed distance within 1 hour 9 minutes and 15 seconds.

A total of 6 players took part in male side championship that included 750 meters long distance swimming in Phewa Lake, 20 kilometer cycling and 5 km race. At the same time, Sony Gurung of Armed Police Force, Yam Kumari Bhujel of NA became first and second in female category that was taken part by only three women. One player remained failed to complete the stipulated course.

Similarly, Man Bahadur Thapa from NA, Kiran Malla from APF and Laxman Malla from APF became first, second and third respectively in a 5 km race, 20 km cycling and 2.5 km race of duathlon that was taken part by 21 players. Homi Budhamagar from Pyuthan, Manju Khadka of NA and Santikala Rai from Jhapa became first, second and third in female category duathlon, reports Ganthan.com. The players who became first, second and third would be put in close camp for 7th National Game and Asian Game, informed Kaski District Triathlon Association secretary Prakash Baral.
