Sahara Club Pokhara hosts 19th AGM

Pokhara—Secretary of Ministry of Youth and Sports Mahesh Prasad Dahal said that the government was home-working to develop Pokhara as a hub of sports. Addressing a 19th Annual General Meeting and 10th convention of Sahara Club Pokhara (SCP), secretary Dahal added that Pokhara is perfect and potential place in terms of environment and atmosphere to be a sports city.

Dahal also claimed that Pokhara could be developed as sports city within 3-4 months and the government has also started discussion over that issue. According to Dahal, government alone could do nothing without the support of locals to make Pokhara a sports hub.

Dahal also informed that the ministry has started some development and physical construction works in Pokhara Stadium as some of the matches of South Asian Games are going to be held in that city in 2019. Dahal also informed that Pokhara will get an international football stadium including a parapet within years.

Himshree Foods Pvt. Ltd Chairman Surya Bahadur KC appreciated SCP as the club has been doing very good jobs since its formation in Pokhara. KC also said that the club has done very tasks that actually are the responsibility of the government.

At the same time, journalist Suraj Shrestha was conferred Sahara Sports Journalism Award during the program. He received Rs 15,555 cash but adding Rs 4445 in this prize money from his pocket, Shrestha handed over Rs 20,000 in the provident fund of SCP. National Football team former captain Anil Gurung was also felicitated during the program.

Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry former Chairman Ananda Raj Mulmi, Pokhara Valley Urban Development Committee Chairman Sundar Kumar Shrestha, District Sports Committee Kaski Chairman Yam Bahadur Gurung, Prithivi Rajmarga Bus Sanchalak Committee General Secretary Yogendra KC, SCP vice Chairman Keshav Bahadur Thapa and General Secretary Keshav Raj Baral expressed their remarks during the program chaired by SCP Chairman Birbhadra Acharya.
