Pokhara—Senior journalist Gangadhar Parajuli was felicitated by Balkrishna Ugratara Memorial Journalism Award in Pokhara on Firday. Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Minister Yagya Bahadur Thapa felicitated journalist Parajuli during a special ceremony organized by Pokhara Express fortnightly. Parajuli received Rs 20,111 including felicitation letter.
Felicitating Parajuli, Minister Thapa expressed his commitment of forging media friendly law in Nepal. Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC said that the media could play very crucial role for the development of the city. Felicitated journalist Parajuli said that the award he received has made him more responsible in his field. Parajuli has already received Dayashankar Palikhe Memorial Journalism Award and Press Union Journalism Award.
Parajuli has been working as active journalist for more than 26 years now. Currently he is the executive chairman of Sunaulo Publication as well as the Chief Editor of Golden News daily. Parajuli is also an executive director of Sunaulo FM. He had fulfilled his responsibility as deputy in Nepal Press Union and the FNJ. Parajuli is a former executive member of RSS board.
Earlier, journalists Megh Raj Sharma from Palpa, Kushum Keshav Parajuli of Kaski, Bhola Sharma of Parbat, Naba Raj Subedi, Narayan Karki and Rudra Bahadur Thapa had been felicitated from this award. The family of late Balkrishna Ugratara had established this award in the memory of Ugratara with a provident fund of Rs 201,111. Journalist who has worked in Province 4 for more than 15 years is qualified to get this award.
Federation of Nepali Journalists vice president Anita Bindu, FNJ Kaski Chairman Dipendra Shrestha, senior journalist Narayan Karki, journalist Naba Raj Subedi, Pokhara Express Chief Editor Jamuna Barsha Sharma, Ugratara’s son Nirajan Upadhaya expressed their remarks during the felicitation ceremony.
