Pokhara—Bed Bahadur Gurung aka Shyam of CPN-UML became the chief of Madi Rural Municipality of Kaski in local election held in Nepal on Sunday. Shyam garnered 4,637 votes to defeat his nearest rival Devi Jung Gurung of Nepali Congress. Devi got 3,653 votes, Election Commission informed.
Similarly, Ms Bishnu Paudel of CPN-UML won the Deputy Chief of that municipality. She defeated her nearest rival Ms Prabhasri Gurung of Nepali Congress. They got 4,523 and 3,131 votes respectively.
At the same time, CPN-UML clinched the title of chairman in ward number 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10 and 12 while CPN-MC won chairman in ward number 7, 9 and 11. The chairmen of ward 5 and 8 were elected from Nepali Congress.
