Barahi Ghat wins Boat Race

Pokhara—Barahi Ghat group has won the title of open Boat Race competition organized in the sideline of 14th Fewa New Year Festival 2074, in Fewa Lake on Wednesday.

Similarly, Swimming Pool Ghat B group became first runner up while, Swimming Pool Ghat secured 2nd runner up position in the competition that was taken part by a total of 9 teams. Barahi Ghat D got the consolation prize.

Winner teams bagged Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, and Rs 5,000 respectively. Consolation prize was given Rs 3,000. Sports Sub-Committee coordinator of Fewa Festival Tilak Bahadur Adhikari informed that the competition was organized to spread the positive message for the conservation of Lake Fewa.

According to festival organizer Western Regional Hotel Association (WRHA) Pokhara Chairman and festival coordinator Bikal Tulachan, participant teams rowed three km north to round the Barahi Temple island in Phewa Lake and came back to the starting point i.e. Basundhara Park of Lakeside.

WRHA Pokhara first vice president Laxman Subedi welcomed all the guests and players in the event that was sponsored by Gorkha Brewery and promoted by Nepal Tourism Board. NARA, Paddle Nepal and Armed Police Force including Namaste Hospital also supported the event.
