Kathmandu : Main opposition CPN-UML accused the Government and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) of being responsible behind the killing of three persons in Saptari the day before.

Three activists of UDMF were killed in police firing as they tried to disrupt the CPN-UML organized mass meeting under its Mechi-Kali Campaign in an industrial zone. UDMF however had said that four of their activists had been killed during the firing but one of them is said to be alive in hospital.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu today, UML urged the government for necessary safety arrangement of its cadres in Tarai region. UDMF and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi were said to be guilty in Tarai killing in a press release signed by UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel.

The release also claimed that there was a plan of mass massacre of top UML leaders cordoning them in Rajbiraj of Saptari. UML also urged the National Human Rights Commission for impartial probe of the Tarai tragedy.

CPN-UML Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal said that the creating hurdle against a peaceful mass meeting was an undemocratic nature of UDFM activists.
