Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski chapter Friday has elected a new executive body for three years of tenure. Dipendra Shrestha was elected as a chairman of that chapter.
Shrestha, who garnered 155 votes defeated his only rival Ramesh Paudel by 22 votes. Newly elected Shrestha is a Chief Executive Officer of Pokhara based Annapurna FM. Shrestha was a candidate of four leftist alliance including CPN-UML supporter Press Chautari and CPN-MC supporter Press Center Nepal.
Paudel, who got 133 votes was a candidate of Nepali Congress supporter Nepal Press Union and the Independent Journalist Association’s joint panel. Likewise, Tribhuvan Paudel was elected as a vice president. He defeated his rival Yadu Nath Banjara. They got 179 and 110 votes respectively. Bimala Bhandari became the vice chairman in women category.
Ram Prasad Timilsena was elected as secretary. He defeated his rival Bashudev Mishra. They garnered 150 and 132 votes respectively. Dinnath Baral became the joint secretary in the new committee. Dipak Pariyar was chosen the inclusive joint secretary. Sanjay Malla was elected as a treasurer of FNJ Kaski.
Surendra Paudel, Ranjan Adhikari, Akraj Giri, Krishna Dawadi, Manoj Gharti Magar, Kamal Paudel Athak, Prakash Dhakal and Suraj Shrestha were elected in the executive member of the committee. Gita Rana Magar was elected in inclusive member, while Uma Ale Magar became inclusive women member. Earlier, Rem BK and Jainab Khatun were unanimously elected in Dalit and minority respectively.
The 10th convention of FNJ Kaski also elected 31 councilors including seven women. Earlier, on Thursday, 38 provincial councilors were also elected on the day of convention’s opening. There are a total of 311 members in FNJ Kaski. 296 had taken part in voting.
