Mountain film festival kicks off in Pokhara

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara : The three day long second Pokhara International Mountain Film festival (PIMFF) 2016 has been kicked off here in touristy town Pokhara on Wednesday. Tourism expert and entrepreneur Jhalak Thapa inaugurated the festival in Pokhara City Hall.

According to festival director Saroj Thapa, a total of 52 movies from 22 countries across the globe are scheduled to screen in the festival. The festival commenced with a movie named ‘A song from Barpak’ and the festival will be ended with a show of Dadyaa.

Three documentaries from Pokhara also are the parts of festival, informed organizer Pokhara Film Society president Ghanashyam Lamichhane. As an open show, three documentaries- Forging Bonds, Animal Park and On the Road to Relief will be screened in Barahi Chok of Lakeside from 6 pm on Wednesday, on the sideline of main festival.

Such open show will also be held in Rambazaar on Thursday on same time. The Man Who Dwarfed the Mountain, Mirrored Mountain: Altay and the Baobabs Between Land and See will be the documentaries for that venue.

This festival is a non competitive event that contains documentaries, shorts, features and experimental films that are related to environment, indigenous people, culture, sports, mountaineering and other issues related to mountain, people from there and their lifestyle. The festival aims to bring together locals, tourism entrepreneurs, various stakeholders, filmmakers, students, artists and movie lovers.
