Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: The world largest radio telescope has started its business in China. The telescope commenced searching for signals from galaxies, stars and the possible life in the universe.
The telescope is China’s growing ambitions in space and its hunt of international scientific status. Beijing has invested billions into such ambitious technical projects as well as its military-backed space program.
The radio telescope measures 500 meters in diameter and it is nestled inside greenery in southern Guizhou province. It took five years of time and USD 180 million to complete and surpasses that of the 300-meter Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
According to Chinese media, scores of astronomers and enthusiasts watched the beginning of the five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope in the country of Pingtang.
