By Rup Narayan Dhakal—Pokhara : Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) 31st general convention is going to begin today. According to election committee coordinator Deepak Shrestha, all the preparation for the convention has already been completed. The convention is scheduled to be inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara.
It is the first convention after the amendment in the PCCI statute. So, the convention is going to be very crucial as most of the posts are going to be directly elected. All total 6 candidates- Dev Chhetri, Narayan Koirala, Bishwo Shankar Palikhe, Hira Bhattarai, Ishwor Prasad Karmacharya and Dhani Ram Baral are vying for the presidential post of the PCCI.
Similarly, Rabindra Bahadur Prajoo and Min Raj Kafle are fighting for the post of senior vice president. Bindu Koirala, Kedar Nath Bhattarai and Suresh Adhikari are vying for the post of vice president on the side of commerce. Similarly Sita Gurung and Gokarna Karki are the candidates of vice president on the side of industry. Damu Adhikari and Laxmi Chhetri Pandey are fighting for the post of general secretary. Pawan Prajapati and Janak Raj Parajuli in treasurer, Nabin Baral, Arjun Pokhrel and Dharma Raj Aryal in deputy general secretary are also the candidates of the PCCI convention.
Likewise, all total 21- Yadu Nath Adhikari, Giridhari Sharma, Prem Prasad Paudel, Gita Kumari Tiwari, Balram Acharya, Goma Dhakal, Dev Krishna Kafle, Maheshwor Pokhrel, Kumari Muna Bastola, Prem Bahadur Bhujel, Arjun Khanal, Kishan Sunar, Himalaya Bakhrel, Nabraj Tirpathi, Chinu Kumari Gurung, Hari Raj Pant, Krishna Bahadur Ranabhat, Sita Baral, Anil Sigdel, Pabitra Devi Gurung and Surendra Man Bijukchhe are vying for required 10 executive member on open side.
Eight candidates- Giridhari Adhikari, Narayan Prasad Paudel, Yamnath Paudel, KP Sharma, Yamnath Timilsina, Taranath Dhungana, Dev Bhadur (DB) Bhujel, Madhav Prasad Paudel are fighting for required 4 objective members. Mohan Babu Khadka for required 1 member on the side of industry had unanimously elected. Kamal Bhadur Basnet and Narendra Bastola were also elected without oppose on corporate member.
The PCCI executive board will be of 29 members including a immediate past president and will be nominated 4 members. All total 2749 PCCI general members are eligible to choose for the PCCI executive body by election that is scheduled for tomorrow.
