Recentfusion.com—Vatican City: Pope Francis Sunday has declared Mother Teresa a saint in St. Peter’s Square.

She was famous for his charitable work among the world’s poor. “I think, perhaps, we may have some difficulty in calling her St. Teresa: Her holiness is so near to us, so tender and so fruitful, that we continue to spontaneously call her Mother Teresa,” the pope said.

Thousands of people were gathered at the Vatican when she was being declared saint. She spent most of her life in India, working in the slums of Kolkata and from the many other countries where she touched innumerable lives.

The crowd clapped loud when Francis proclaimed her St. Teresa of Kolkata at the end of the formal ceremony, in Latin. Around 120,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square where 15 official government delegates were also present. Besides queen of Spain, there were the representative of United States and India.

Teresa’s fans admire her selflessness and humility, noting that though she linked with royalty, government leaders, and popes, she continued to live simply until her loss in 1997.
