Lyricist Tamang to be felicitated by Melody Award

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Lyricist Tirtha Tamang is to be felicitated by Melody Award 2016 on September 6, in Pokhara.

The award which is established by Melody Café and Lunge Bar- Chipledhunga Pokhara, is going to be awarded to Tamang on the occasion of 2nd anniversary of that restaurant for the first time.

According to Binod Baniya, one of the owners of this restaurant and popular Nepali singer, Tamang was selected by a jury led by poet Tirtha Shrestha. ‘We are going to felicitate to Mr. Tamang as per his contribution in Nepali music sector.’ said Baniya, in a press meet organized by Melody Cafe this morning.

The award with Rs. 25,525 cash and other certificates will be handed over to Tamang in a special ceremony that will be organized in Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry auditorium.

Tamang who has been in song writing sector for about 3 decades, was chosen from province number 4 for the first time. All total 30 songs written by Tamang have already been recorded. Byarthai feri ghaite mutu baljhiyo…was his first recorded song that was composed some 23 year before. The award was established to felicitate to the vocalist, composer and musician and whatever the person from music sector.

Tamang who hails from Batulechaur of Pokhara is in teaching field these days. The Melody Cafe that is owned by singer Baniya, Shekhar Sherchan, Ganesh Basaula and Ahok Kumar Gurung, has been contributing in social sector as well.
