Recentfusion.com–Pokhara: At least 12 Nepalese security guards were killed as a Taliban suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a minibus at around 1.30 GMT in Kabul of Afghanistan on Monday. Earlier the officials had assumed killing of 14 Nepalese.
Akur Tamang Sunsari, Chandra Bahadur Rana Magar Kathmandu, Hari Bahadur Badwal chhetri Kathmandu, Bidur Bahadur Subedi Chhetri Kathmandu, Amrit Bahadur Thapa Lamjung, Suk Bahadur Gurung Syangja, Dambar Bahadur Tamang Nuwakot, Madhusudan Koirala Nuwakot, Lil Bahadur Gurung Nuwakot, Nabin Singh Chhetri Parvat, Krishna Bahadur Dhungana chitwan and Jitendra Singh Thapa Butwal were killed in the bombing.
According to Interior Ministry, the Nepalese security guards were travelling to Canadian Embassy as they used to work there. Five were Nepalese among the wounded 9, during the incident. The City Police informed that the bomber was on foot as he blasted the bomb. Country’s chief executive officer Abdullah Abdullah, condemned the attack on Twitter, saying: “This attack is an act of terror and intimidation.”
Giving a statement to media, Taliban has claimed the responsibility of bombing. Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also expressed his grief on the incident. It has been reported that the Nepal Government is working to verify the names of Nepalese victims.
According to BBC, the Taliban have been waging an insurgency against the government since 2001. Nato ended its combat mission in December 2014, although about 13,000 training and counter-terrorism troops remain in Afghanistan.
