Sanctuary Lhosar Festival begins in Chhomrong

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The 17th Sanctuary Lhosar Festival has kicked off in touristy village Chhomrong of Annapurna Rural Municipality today. The festival lasts on 25th December 2018.

Inaugurating the festival, Gandaki Province Assembly member Rajib Pahari vowed the tourism development in Annapurna Base Camp and Chhomrong area. He also sought the need of alternative routes as most of the trekking trails in Annapurna Region are being overlapped by the road buildings. At the same time, assembly member Pahari expressed his sadness that snow-capped mountains are converted into big rock due to global warming. So, we should come up with certain master plans to curb the global warming as well as to explore the new trails.

Annapurna Rural Municipality ward number 11 chairman Him Bahadur Gurung said that his office has been drawing attention of public people for infrastructure development for few months. Menwhile, assembly member Pahari felicitated Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Committee chairman Lalit Gurung and local runner Amrit Gurung, Sanish Gurung including others during the opening session chaired by Annapurna Sanctuary Youth Club president Mikash Gurung.

A total of 17 teams in men’s volleyball, 11 in men’s basketball and 7 in women’s volleyball are taking part in the championships. Tug of war, shot put and other games also are the attractions of the festival.
