Pokhara—District Police Office Kaski has made public Yan Bahadur Gurung, 52, who allegedly murdered his wife Srimaya Gurung, 60, by hitting a stone, in Pokhara on Friday. According to DPO Kaski spokesperson DSP Rabindraman Gurung, Yan, who is originally from Mauja village of Kaski district, has confessed his crime.
Yan had killed his wife on Wednesday night at Khudikhola squatter settlement of Pokhara Metropolitan City- 32 where he with her wife had been living for years. According to police, the incident occurred as his wife complained about his late arrival to home that night and started to quarrel. During the dispute Yan attacked his paralytic wife and pulled her out of their room to blow her with a stone. Then he blanked her not covering her face and put a tobacco upon her dead body. He also put a vessel with water nearby her head. Then he tried to sleep but couldn’t fall asleep.
Earlier, intoxicated Yan had reached to his home at around 9 pm after labor work from Majuwa. In the next morning, he left his home around 4 am and started hiking to reach nearby Gagangaunda Bazaar. As he arrived there, he took a bus to go to New Buspakr of Pokhara thinking to go to his original home at Mauja. But he returned back to Gagangaunda due to remorse.
As he arrived to his settlement to observe the situation of incident site, a team of police headed by DPO Kaski chief SP Om Bahadur Rana comprising of DSP Gurung, another DSP Bishnubar Singh Thapa and scene of crime operation (SOCO) officer including sniffer dog arrested absconding Yan from the farming field of Gagangaunda at around 9.10am. Yan is a manual worker and he had been living there for 17 years. His first wife had died some 16 years ago then he married Srimaya after 6 months of previous wife’s death. He has no child from both the wives.
