Landslide claims one person in Baglung

Pokhara—At least one persons were killed and some feared missing when massive landslide buried them at Thulo Bharyang,Turture along the Midhill Highway in the bordering area of Badigaun Rural Municipality Bhimgithe and Dhorpatan Municiaplity Burtibang.

According to District Police Office Baglung, deceased has been identified as Bibiran Khatun, 35, of Arghakhanchi district. Her body has been excavated after the landslide. Businesswoman Khatun was on the way from Burtibang to Arghakhanchi. The landslide began since Friday night and it has not been stopped yet. Pedestrians using the same risky unclear route with full of rubbles after landslide in between Bhimgithe and Burtibang.

Police Inspector Om Prakash Yadav informed that the search of possibly missing persons is undergoing. Khatun became the victim of landslide when she was trying to cross that risky route. Numbers of people were using that risky track when the Khatun suffered burial.

That landslide had created a dam in Badigadh stream creating a pool but the pool water overflowed on Saturday morning. The landslide also disrupted the vehicular movement in Midhill Highway. Local level representatives and authorities met to discuss on alternative route.
