Pokhara—Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has proposed Pokhara as a tourism capital of Nepal. Organizing an interaction in association with Paschimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara (PHAP) here on Tuesday, HAN also declared Pokhara a tourism gateway of South Asia.
Tourism entrepreneurs, Gandaki Province Chief Minister, Finance Minister, lawmakers, Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor and media persons were present at the interaction that urged the government to declare Pokhara a tourism capital of Nepal and a special tourism zone too. HAN Chairman Amar Man Shakya stressed on the development of sustainable tourism to make Gandaki a prosperous province. He also raised the issue of investment friendly and tourism friendly environment to flourish the tourism in that province.
Similarly, HAN former Chairman and HAN Former Chairmen Council Gandaki Province coordinator Prasiddha Bahadur Pandey presented the concept paper on Pokhara as a tourism capital of Nepal. He focused on the mass and MICE tourism in Pokhara, adding that the Pokhara is suitable destination for all kinds of tourists. He also urged the government to declare tax holidays for 10 years and cheaper interest rate in bank loan.
Likewise, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the concept of tourism capital was a good idea and his government is busy in forging new policies including relating to tourism. He also stressed on the need of infrastructures and connectivity development including roads and airports for easy access to the tourists who wish to visit to Gandaki Province. CM Gurung also proposed a red-light area and license holder prostitutes and open lakeside round the clock.
Gandaki Province Finance Minister Kiran Gurung reminded that the government has included the plan of a history museum in Ligligkot and a signature bridge over the Bijaypur Khola, in current porovince budget. Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC requested all the concerns to develop Pokhara as a tourism hub rather than a transit of tourists. PHAP Chairman Bikal Tulachan urged the government to provide cheaper bank loan for tourism sector.
Nepal Tourism Board former executive member and Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Bishwo Shankar Palikhe asked the government to provide paid holidays to civil servants. Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Kedar Nath Sharma requested all the concerns to end the syndicate even in tourism sector. Gandaki Province assembly members Deepak Koirala, Man Bahadur Gurung, HAN vice president Srijana Rana including others put their suggestions and views during the interaction.
