Pokhara—The three-day long 2nd South Asian Yoga Sports Championship and first Mount Everest Interanational Yoga Festival have concluded in Pokhara on Sunday. Indian citizens Pushpendra Mandal and Suhena Purket became Mr. Yogi and Miss Yogini respectively in the championship.
India won a total of 10 gold medals to become first when organizer Nepal bagged 4 to secure 2nd position. Likewise, Nepal also bagged 9 brass medals and India 5. Towards bronze, Nepal got 11, India 4, Pakistan and Bangladesh 1 each. A total of 275 players from five countries- Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan took part in the championship that was of various age groups.
Medal winners were distributed prizes by Nepal Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista, Federation of International Yoga Sports vice chairman Umanga Dhawan, Nepal Yoga Sports Association chairman Prof Dr. Surya Bahadur Karki, general secretary Chudamani Kharel and Kaski District Yoga Sports Association chairman Prakash Baniya.
