Indian players dominate South Asian Triathlon Championship

Pokhara—Indian players Manichandra Singh and Samira Mariham became champions to win the gold medal in 6th South Asian Triathlon Championship held in Pokhara on Saturday.

At the same time, Bishworjit Saikham from India and Basanta Chaudhary of Nepal became second and third respectively to bag brass and bronze medals respectively. They got second and third position respectively. 750 meter swimming, 10 km cycling and 5km running were included in the triathlon of sprint category. Samira and Pragnya from India and Soni Gurung from Nepal became first, second and third in women’s category of the triathlon. In men’s category, Manichandra, Bishworjit and Basatna got first, second and third prize.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista distributed medal and certificates to the winning players in the concluding ceremony of the event jointly inaugurated by Province 4 assembly member and Nepal Triathlon Association vice Chairman Deepak Koirala and Kaski Chief District Officer. Earlier Sports Minister Jagat BK has inaugurated the sixth Mountain Sports Festival in Pokhara.
