Seoul (South Korea) — The South Korean and North Korean leaders on Friday agreed to remove all the nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula. They also clinched an accord that the two nations would end the Korean War that retained from 1950 to 1953 in their land.
After a history of 65 year, North Korean leader marched for the first time in the land of South Korea before a historic summit meeting. “South and North Korea confirmed the common goal of realizing, through complete denuclearization, a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula,” states a statement signed by North Korea’s President, Kim Jong-un, and the South’s president, Moon Jae-in, following their meeting at the bordering Panmunjom.
Earlier at around 9.30, North Korean leader Kim entered South Korea and he was welcomed by his counterpart Moon. Then both the leaders shook their hands and posed for photographs. At the same time as South leader Moon gestured his counterpart to go to meeting venue Peace House, Kim requested Moon to go to his land in North Korea and to take photographs.
‘The new history has started at the starting point of peaceful era,’ Kim has written in a visitors’ log at the meeting hall South Korea. They further agreed on that they won’t carry out any anti activities against each other. Slashing the numbers of weapons, announcement of peaceful area in demilitarized areas, reducing the army tension, expansion of railway and road network, joint participation in Asian Games and other sports activities are also the point of agreement.
