Mahara sworn in as Speaker

Kathmandu—House of Representatives Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara took the oath of his office and secrecy on Sunday. President Biddhya Devi Bhandari administered oath to Mahara in her office Shital Niwas. Mahara wore Daura Suruwal and Bhadagaonle cap during the swearing in ceremony.

Lawmaker from CPN-MC, Mahara was elected speaker unopposed by House of Representatives on Saturday as no other person registered candidacy in speaker o n Friday. Mahara was proposed by CPN-UML lawmaker Subash Chandra Nembang and seconded by CPN-MC lawmaker Dev Gurung.

Mahara was elected as lawmaker from Dang constituency 2 and House of Representatives eldest member Mahanta Thakur announced that Mahara was elected as the speaker of House of Representatives.
