Pokhara—Nepal beat Canada by 1 wicket in ICC World Cricket League Division Two at Wanderers Cricket Ground in Namibia, on Wednesday. Following this victory Nepal has been qualified for the ICC World Cup 2019 Qualifiers to be held in Zimbabwe next year.
Nepal got a target of 195 runs from Canada. After winning the toss, Nepali skipper Paras Khadka wished to field first. Canada’s Srimantha Wijeratne’s made unbeaten century to post a challenging total for Nepal in a do-or-die figt today. Wijeratne scired 103 runs in 152 balls, studded with eight boundaries. Hamza Tariq and Saad Bin Zafar contributed 24 and 10 runs respectively.
Karan KC remained hero to steer Nepal to a one-wicket thrilling victory against Canada in their final match. The victory has ensured Nepal a berth for World Cup Qualifiers to be held in March in Zimbabwe. KC rescued Nepal in the critical moment, contributing 41 runs off 31 balls including four sixes and three boundaries. Aarif Sheikh scored 26 runs hitting one four off 57 balls.
