Pokhara–India’s Manushi Chhillar crowned Miss World 2017 today in Sanya of China. For India, the victory repeated 17 years after Priyanka Chopra won title in the year 2000.
Manushi Chhillar is 20 and comes from Haryana. Miss England and Miss Mexico were first and second runners up in the contest.
Stephanie Hill, who is Miss England became the first runner up while Miss Mexico Andrea Meza turned second runner up.
Ms Chhillar studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat. Ms Chhillar wants to be a cardiac surgeon and has aim of opening non-profitable hospitals in rural areas.
After reaching the top five, Ms Chhillar was asked during the Question and Answer round, which profession she thought deserved the highest salary and why.
Replying to the question, Ms Chhillar said it was not a question about a person’s salary and that a mother was worthy of the highest respect. Around 108 women from across the world took part in the beauty pageant.
