Pokhara–An unidentified group blasted a bomb targeting CPN-MC leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha in Gorkha today. Shrestha is the parliamentary election candidate of left alliance in Gorkha constituency number 2 where former PM and Naya Shakti Nepal coordinator Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is also in the race.
The mine explosion carried out nearby the electoral team of Shrestha at Sirdikhola in Gorkha Municipality. According to SP Prakash Adhikari, the explosion somehow damaged the vehicle Ba 2 Cha 9463 which was being traveled by Shrestha’s team members. But there is no report of any human injury and casualty.
Shrestha’s team was returning back to another destination after completing a electoral mass meeting of 12 kilo. The bomb went off as the Shrestha travelling vehicle passed a bridge. Constituency number two has been put in sensitive election region as two heavyweight leaders are in the run.
Similarly, Irrigation state minister Amar Singh Pun also was targeted by a bomb in Rolpa today. Pun was on his way to Jaulipokhari of Rolpa from headquarter Liwang but the incident happened as he arrived at Bhakribang of Suwarnavati Rural Municipality- 1 at around 1 pm. Pun and his team are safe and there is no report of injury during the incident.
Nepal is going to hold polls on November 26 and December 7 in two phases and Netra Bikram Chand led communist party has been opposing the slated polls. No forces and sides have claimed both the incidents but it has been thought this party’s hand in the explosion. In this context, CPN-MC leaders Barsha Man Pun and Janardan Sharma as well as CPN-UML leader Sherdhan Rai were also targeted by bombs earlier.
