Pokhara—Recentfusion.com’s editor in Chief and The Himalayan Times’s correspondent Mr. Rup Narayan Dhakal has been felicitated with Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Economic Journalism Award 2073 in Pokhara on Saturday.
Dhakal was honored by Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC during the 63rd Annual General Meeting of PCCI. Dhakal received Rs 25,000 cheque including Dosalla and felicitation letter during the event held in PCCI auditorium. This felicitation is carried out in every two years to a journalist who contributes in the economic development of the country through his or her writings.
A committee coordinated by Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) advisor and former chairman Basanta Udas had picked Dhakal as qualified journalist for the felicitation. BBC Nepali service Pokhara reporter and Samadhan Daialy Chief Editor Narayan Karki, Adarsha Samaj Daily Chief Editor Krishna Prasad Bastola, PCCI treasurer Pawan Prajapati and PCCI deputy general secretary Arjun Pokharel were the members of that committee.
Dhakal started his journalism career 2 decades ago from then Gagan Weekly and then Janamat daily published in Pokhara. Earlier, Dhakal contributed Pokharapatra Daily, Samadhan Daily, Rajdhani Daily, Annapurna Post Daily and an English website ohmynews international updated from South Korea.
Dhakal is a former councilor of Federation of Nepali Journalists, present member of this organization as well as Federation of Independent Journalists. Permanent resident of Pokhara Lekhnath- 32, Kaski, he is Master Degree in Economics. He had already received the reporting and editing training from Nepal Press Institute, PCCI, HWK Germany and other organizations.
