Pokhara—A Briton was killed and two Nepali were injured in separate incidents in Annapurna Region recently. British tourist Charlotte Ema Katserne Fullrton, 22 succumbed to head injury at Lete Health Post on Thursday after he was hit by rolling boulder at Ghoptebhir in Thasang Rural Municiapality- 4 Mustang, informed Deepak Raj Adhikari who is the chairman of Trekking Agencies Association Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association (WRA) Pokhara.
Similalry, vehicle driver Dal Bahadur Fagami, 40 got injured during the rock fall in the same area. He sustains injury in his back and was sent to Pokhara based Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH). Likewise, AP 1 Television’s camera person Utsal Pathak also sustained injury as he was hit by a rock in Dana, the bordering area of Mustang and Myagdi. He was on his way to Mustang to film the Yartung Festival. He was also sent to MTH following the head injury during the trekking in Annapurna Region on last Saturday, informed AP 1 TV Pokhara Bureau Chief Suman Sharma.
Earlier, TAAN WRA Pokhara has posted a notice in his Facebook page, cautioning the visiting trekkers and their supporters in Annapurna Region. The notice requests all the trekkers and their supporters to beware of possible threat of flood, landslips and avalanches during the time of this summer. ‘If any incident happens and information needed, please contact the nearby office of TAAN or Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) or Nepal Tourism Board office.
According to Union of Trekking Travels Rafting Workers Nepal chairman Bijay KC, trekking in Annapurna Region is not disrupted in spite of some exceptional cases like landslides or floods in few areas. According to the information of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a total of 138,815 tourists visited the world famous Annapurna trekking routes including Annapurna Circuit in last Nepali fiscal.
