Pokhara—Newly appointed Press Council Nepal (PCN) Chairman Bhawani Prasad Baral took charge of the office following the swearing in ceremony in Kathmandu today.
Baral was appointed as a chairman of PCN by the government on last Thursday. PCN staffers welcomed Baral in the council office amid a special program. Talking in a program, Federation of Nepali Journalists Chairman Dr Mahendra Bista suggested PCN to make its role more ample for the development of quality media. He also reminded that the PCN is an independent and autonomous body of Nepal.
PCN acting chairman Kishor Shrestha informed about the recent technology that council is adopting. He also said that the PCN has developed the good relation with international community.
PCN Staff Union Chairman Man Bahadur Lamichhane suggested for the effective role of the council, managing the skilled manpower. FNJ Kathmandu Chairman Shanta Ram Bidari including the PCN executives and staffers welcomed new chairman Baral offering garlands and bouquets.
Speaking in the program, Chairman Baral pledged effective tasks for the development of journalism and media sector in Nepal. He has very long experience in media field as a journalist.
