By Rup Narayan Dhakal: Pokhara–The People’s Government of Tibet Autonomous Region- The People Republic China today has formally handed over the 1,000 sets of street solar lights installed along the roadsides of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City (PLMC) recently.
Deputy Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Autonomous Region Mr. Ma Quinsheng and PLMC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Dirgha Narayan Paudel signed papers to hand over the project, in the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Ms Yu Hong in Pokhara.
PLMC had received the street solar lights worth rupees 150 million and the installing tasks from Bijaypur to Hallan Chowk of Lakeside and other parts of the city was started on Decmber of 2016. Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) played a vital role from beginning to end of the project.
Earlier, ambassador Hong inaugurated the handing over ceremony in PLMC hall. Addressing a ceremony, ambassador Hong said that the Pokhara is a very important city and Chinese tourists always would like to visit this city. She also assured that the construction works of Pokhara Regional International Airport would begin soon and will be ended within stipulated time-frame.
PCCI Chairman Bishwo Shakar Palikhe requested the ambassador Hong to be serious on the issue of new airport in Pokhara. He also urged to ambassador Hong to take initiation to open Korala border point. ‘Nepal Government should cooperate in OBOR project of China,’ Palikhe added. PLMC CEO Paudel thanked China-Tibet for the support of solar light in Pokhara.
