Pokhara–The fifth Vibor Society National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is to be held on April 2 and 3 in Pokhara.
90 percent preparation of the tournament has been completed, informed Apanga Kheldud Committee (AKC) and Swabalamban Jivan Paddhati Society (SJPS) Nepal, who are the key hosts of the program. According to AKC Chairman Bharat Bikram Baniya, a total of 6 teams from Kathmandu, Chitwan and pokhara are to take part in the tournament.
Nepal Army, Wheelchair Sports Association, Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association, Jawalakhel Sports Association from Kathmandu, Wheelchair Sports Association Bharatpur and 1 team from host side are the participants of the league cum knockout tournament.
Muktinath Battalion of Armed Police Force with traditional instrumental music will take the teams to the Pokhara Stadium before the inaugural ceremony. The winner team will bag Rs 20,000, first runner up will receive Rs 10,000 and 2nd runner up will be given Rs 5,000. Trophy and medal will be provided to all threes.
Likewise, best player and higher scorer will also be given the prize in the tournament that will be sponsored by Vibor Society Development Bank (VSDB) and the Gurkha and Baraha Jewelry (GBJ) is the sponsor of first prize. Similarly, former boxing player Chandra Bahadur Gurung is the sponsor of first runner up prize while, 2nd runner up prize will be sponsored by Pashupati Baral and Bhagawan Baral.
VSDV Chairman Sushil Parajuli, GBJ MD Hari Kumar Dhamala and Kaski District Table Tennis Association Chairman Uttam Joshi expressed their greetings for the success of the tournament, informed SJPS Chairman Hitman Chhantyal.
