Pokhara: Normal life in Pokhara has crippled due to the Nepal Bandh called by United Democratic Madhesi Front today. However, the capital city Kathmandu is less affected by this general strike. Public and private vehicles are being plied on the roads of Kathmandu.
Police has arrested some six dozens of UDMF activists who were trying to obstruct the vehicular movement in Kathmandu today. Long route public vehicles have halted their service due to this bandh. Press and hospital vehicles are not barred from going one place to another. In Pokhara too, some people are driving their private vehicles however the public vehicles are not providing their service. No demonstrators seem in the streets of Pokhara.
According to news report, people from Kathmandu have defied the bandh. UDFM has called this bandh to protest the killing of four Madhesi people in police firing on March 6. They were killed as they tried to thwart the mass meeting of main opposition CPN-UML in Saptari. The meeting was held under the Mechi-Kali Campaign that has been resumed today in Hetauda.
