One Nepali killed in SSB firing in Indo-Nepal border

Pokhara: Nepali national Govinda Gautam, 30, was shot dead in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)  firing in Indo-Nepal border today. As per the information, SSB opened fire during a clash between Nepali and Indian citizen at Anand Bazaar in Punarbas village development committee-8 of Kanchanpur district, Nepal. Main opposition, CPN-UML has urged the government to declare Gautam a martyr.

The dispute between Nepali citizen and Indian had started as Nepali site was constructing a culvert some 500 meter towards Nepal from Indian border but Indian opposed it citing that the google map is showing the construction area as Indian land. However, the area is clearly seems in Nepali site. The dispute had started some 15 days ago in Anand Bazaar of Kanchanpur but the situation went worse toady as SSB opened fire on the issue of same culvert in Nepal.

It has been claimed that the Indian also looted some goats, goods of Nepalese people and beat dozens of Nepali. Nepali journalist Hemanta Neupane was also was beaten by Indian citizen. As per the information, SSB opened some 21 rounds of firing. Nepali citizen Suresh Thapa sustained head injury during clash. He is in hospital of Dhangadi. APF Inspector Ram Khatri also injured during the clash.
