Pokhara Street Festival Kicks off in Lake City

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: The five day long 18th Pokhara Street Festival has begun in Lake City here on Wednesday. Urban Development Minister Arjun Narshingh KC inaugurated the festival at Komagane Park of Lakeside.

The festival with food, music and culture is being organized in the 3.5 km street of Lakeside. According to festival coordinator Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, the festival aims to develop Pokhara as a destination to celebrate Christmas and the New Year as per Gregorian calendar.

Let’s eat, dance and enjoy in street is the key motto of the festival which is being organized by Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara. REBAN Pokhara President Chau Bahadur Gurung hopes that the festival will be helpful to lure domestic and foreign tourists in Pokhara.

Discounts of 15 percent in restaurant menu and 20 percent in lodge rooms have been offered during the festival, claims REBAN Pokhara. Several cultural tableaus, dances and religious hymns were presented in the street of Lakeside before the inauguration of the festival.

Lawmakers Yagya Bahadur Thapa, Sharada Paudel, Kaski District CDO Hari Prasad Mainali, Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Som Bahadur Thapa, Pokhara Valley Urban Development Committee Chairman Prakash Mohan Khanal, PCCI vice chairman Rabindra Bahadur Prajoo,  REBAN Pokhara Chairman Gurung and festival coordinator Bhattarai expressed their views during the opening ceremony of the festival.
