Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA) Project Directorate asked all the concern sides not to be doubtful over the construction of PRIA.
Issuing a press release on Monday, the directorate made clear that the tasks related to airport construction are undergoing. The released was published at a time when Nepal’s print and electronic media published news criticizing the airport related speech given by Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Minster for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, few days before in his recent Pokhara visit.
The distribution of compensation money to landowners, the approval of Environmental Impact Assessment Report, soil test of proposed airport area, construction of 5 sewerage within the airport site, fencing of the land and the preparation of conceptual design of new airport have already been completed, the release reads.
According to release the construction of contractor’s camp is going to be started soon and the engineering design of airport is being undergone by the Chinese side. Likewise, the construction of the airport will be started following the preparation of detail design.
Nepali side has also competed all its tasks to open an ESCROW Account to deposit the income from the new airport to pay back the will be granted loan to China EXIM Bank. According to information, the total of 4 billion rupees including the 3 billion rupees of compensation amount for the land owners has been mobilized in recent 2 years for the proposed ICAO Category 4D level airport that will be built by China CAMC Engineering in Engineering, Procurement Construction (EPC) model in Pokhara.
