Third Mountain Festival kicks of in Pokhara

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: The third Mountain Festival has kicked off in Pokhara today. Minister for Population and Environment Jaydev Joshi has inaugurated the festival at the premises of International Mountain Museum in Rato Pairo of touristy town Pokhara.

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized festival concludes on Sunday. According to NMA Annapurna Chapter secretary Shes Kanta Sharma, the festival includes about three dozens of stalls related to mountain activities and information.

Festival coordinator Kushal Gurung informed that the festival is being organized on the occasion of International Mountain Day. Conservation of mountain environment, promotion of tourism and improvement in the livelihood of people from mountain regions are some of the motives of the festival. Conservation of mountain culture and diversities are also the parts of the festival.

The wall climbing competition, Chhelo competition, archery, duet songs, cultural dance, mountain documentaries are some of the attractions of the festival that is being taken part by the international environmentalists, tourism experts and tourism entrepreneurs.

Hari Prasad Mainali, the Chief District Officer of Kaski, Som Bahadur Thapa, Pokhara tourism council president including other special guests expressed their remarks during the opening session of the festival.
