Traffic islands in Pokhara roads to be managed

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Concern bodies in Pokhara have committed to manage the traffic islands that are the major cause behind the traffic jam in Pokhara roads.

 They pledged to manage the islands that have large circumference and unnecessarily big in size which is said major cause of traffic jam in this touristy town.

Taking part in an interaction organized by Radio Barahi on Wednesday, Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City Office CEO Naba Raj Dhungana, Division Road Office Pokhara chief Prem Prakash Khatri, District Administrative Office Kaski officer Anil Kumar Shahi, advocate Surendra Thapa Magar, PSMCO senior engineer Surendra Paudel and District Traffic Police Office Kaski inspector Bishwo Raj Adhikari seemed positive against the disturbing traffic islands of Pokhara.

PSMCO CEO Dhungana pledged that he would hold an interaction with stakeholders and concern sides to shift or manage the traffic islands and statues of martyrs and national heroes. ‘I will cooperate with concern sides before taking the decision regarding islands and statues of the roadsides.’ said Dhungana.

He also presented the options of reducing traffic island circumference, installing the traffic light or anything else to manage the islands and statues. Road division chief Khatri said that he would go through the technical part of the island management by  the Road and Traffic Unit under his office.

According to information, there have been registered 152,000 vehicles in Transport Management Office Gandaki since the month of Kartik. Prithivi Chok, Amarsingh Chok, Chiple Dhunga and other, Zero Kilometer and some of the Hari Chok are some of the busy junctions where such traffic islands are being the cause of traffic jam.
