By Rup Narayan Dhakal—Pokhara: The 2016 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo is undergoing at Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Centre in Dongguan City of China.
The expo was kicked off the day before. Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Bishwo Shankar Palikhe, Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City (PSMC) Office CEO Naba Raj Dhungana and Western Regional Hotel Association (WRHA) Pokhara treasurer and Hotel Glacier Pokhara MD Rajendra Dhakal are taking part from Pokhara in the expo. Former Nepali Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai and his wife and former tourism minister Hisila Yami has also taken part in the expo.
According to WRHA Pokhara treasurer Dhakal, the sister city round table meet which is being held as part of that expo has been organized in Shantou Hall of International Convention Center today. Delegates from all total 50 different countries took part in discussion. PSMC CEO Dhungana also addressed the meet.
They have discussed on enhancing the possible developments with sister cities & make it more effective relationships between theses sister cities on city to city cooperation. Sister city relationship creates chances in cultural exchanges & innovative tourism developments among the respective nations in the world.
The round-table meet which is being moderated by Mr Zeng Qingchun, Deputy Director General, Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou Municipal Government on a theme interconnectivities and innovative development, includes 16 delegates from various nations for remarks.
This expo is a 4-day program of the Guangdong Province and is being organized with Hong Kong and Macao administrations. The expo is organized by the Guangdong Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and supported by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute.
According to mcci.org , there are six dedicated professional exhibition areas- tourism, building, decoration materials and engineering, typical food and agricultural products, tea, ceramics and silk. The Business Opportunities, cross Border E-Commerce Logistics, information Technology Products are three theme exhibition areas of that expo.
