Recentfusion.com—Ilam: At least 8 people were killed as a boat capsized in Maikhola of Ilam today. The boat that was crossing the Maikhola met with an accident in between Mahamai and Danabari at around 12 noon, District Police Office Ilam informed.
According to Police Inspector Rudra Chudal, 8 bodies have been recovered and 31 were rescued. Some of the persons on boat went missing. It is still unclear that how many of the persons were travelling in that boat that also went missing in the rapid of Maikhola that saw flood following the torrential rainfall.
The cause of accident was not disclosed however Police believe that the boat was overloaded and met with an accident as it went uncontrolled. Security personals and local people are searching the missing persons. The identity of deceased is yet to be disclosed.
