Niraj Thapa lifts the title of open tennis tournament

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Niraj Thapa lifted the title of third Nepalese Encounters Cup Pokhara Open Veterans’ Tennis Tournament concluded in Pokhara Stadium’s tennis court on Saturday.

Thapa outplayed Binod Kayastha 6-2 and 6-3 on straight set to bag the men’s singles title of tournament. The team of Dorje Lama and Anil Tulachan won the title towards men’s doubles. Rajan Paudel and Lok Gurung were defeated on 6-3, 4-6 and in super-tie 10-7, in the final match.

Winner Thapa towards single received Rs 15,000 cash, trophy and runner up Kayastha got Rs 8,000 including trophy. Similarly, on double winner side, winner and runner up bagged Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 including trophy respectively.

Chief guest Prof. Dr. Damodar Prasad Pokhrel, the president of Association of Nepalese Alumni Forum (ANAF) Australia, special guest Narayan Pahari, the MD of organizer Nepalese Encounters, APF DIG Narendra Kumar Singh, ANAF Australia secretary Rishi Ram Tripathi and tennis player Michael Norrish distributed the prizes in a formal program chaired by Kaski District Tennis Association president Binod Kayastha.
