Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Phirke Khola (stream) which follows through the midtown of Pokhara has swallowed at least three lives within the period of 13 months.
Surveer GC 21, from Kalika Village Dvelopment Committee (VDC) Kaski, Mina Bhandari 48, of Dang Deukhuri and Keshav Raj Parajuli 50, of Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City- 4 lost their lives due to various reasons in Phirke stream that begins from Pokhara- 28 Andherikuna and is around 8 KM long.
According to District Police Office Kaski, GC’s dead body was found at Phewa canal of Mahat Gaunda in Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City- 17 today. GC who was travelling in a pulsar motorcycle was veered of the road into Phirke stream nearby land revenue office Kaski on September 7 at around 10.55 PM. His body was swept way to Phew Lake then to Mahat Gaunda via canal.
Similarly Mina Bhandari who was returning back to her room in Pokhara after having Dar (special meal before Teej Festival) on August 31st was swept away by swollen ground water caused by incessant rainfall, in Siddhartha Chok in the night time. Few hours later, her dead body was found in Phirke stream nearby incident site.
Likewise, in July 2015, Keshav Raj Parajuli was found dead in Phewa Lake which is the ending point of Phirke stream before merging with Bulaundi stream. He fell down Phirke stream from the road of Parshyang and was swept way to Phewa. The incident occurred as Parajuli was using open toilet while on the way to his house. He, along with his friends was returning to his house during heavy rainfall.
